There are three types, I, II, III, distinguished by how high the notch under the "H" of Thaler rises toward the "H". Rev. Earee's descriptions have Types I and II switched from what is shown here, based on the 1980 Minkus catalog. This listing will be revised if a general consensus is found. Right now it is easier to keep them as they are because Minkus had illustrations and Rev. Earee does not.
The notch in the shield below the "H" of Thaler is as follows. (1) Type I, The notch rises high enough to touch the bottom of the "H".
(2.) Type II, The notch begins to rise but does not reach the bottom of the "H".
(3.) Type III, The notch barely rises at all.
(4.) From the prices given in the 1980 catalog, it appears that Type II is the scarcest.
