1852 Printing, Italian State, Sardinia, Scott #1, Genuine

Sardinia

(1.) The King's hair seems to be coming out in patches.
(2.) The eye is small.
(3.) The beard hangs down to the top of the final "O" in Bollo.
(4.) The "C"'s have square shoulders.
(5.) There is a hyphen after "Poste"
(6.) This printing passes without a period after the top "C".
(7.) There is a period after the bottom "C".
(8.) Pearls -- top 32, bottom 32, left 36, right 36. The corner pearls should be counted with both the horizontal and vertical rows except at the lower left, because there really is no pearl in the corner at the lower left.
(9.) The little tail of the "Q" is slanted slightly to the right and points to the 19th pearl.
(10). The right angle corner is complete at the upper left triangle.
(11.) Scrolls at the upper left triangle touch each other.

(2.) This printing has a period after the top "C" and after "05".

Sardinia Forgery


Forgery of Italian State, Sardinia #1, Probably Genoa forgery by N.Imperato per R.Lana, Earee 1st forgery

Sardinia

(1.) The King's hair looks nice and combed.
(2.) Line at the eye extends almost to the curve of the nose.
(3.) Beard hangs down to the middle of the final "O" of Bollo.
(4.) The mustache is large and dark.
(5.) Hyphen after the top "C", larger hyphen after "Poste", and a period after "05".
(6.) Pearls -- top 31, bottom 31, left 34, right 37.
(7.) Little tail of the "Q" points between the 18th and 19th pearls.
(8.) Main feature of this forgery -- "O" of "05" is larger and rounder than the "5".
(9.) There is a space between the scrolls in the upper left triangle.
(10.) Rev. Earee says the portrait of the king in this forgery is a more accurate likeness than the genuine stamp.

(3.) Tail of the "Q" points to the 17th pearl.
(4.) Right angle corner is incomplete in the upper left triangle.
(5.) Scrolls close but not touching at the upper left triangle.

Forgery of Italian State, Sardinia, #1, Of unknown origin

Sardinia

(1.) Pearls -- top 32, bottom 33, left 36, right 36.
(2.) There is an extra pearl under the "I" of Cinque.
(3.) Tail of the "Q" is straight down and points to the 20th pearl.
(4.) There is a line between the nose and the cheek.
